MFM is Grateful for…
The Sierra Club: Did you know, the food system is responsible for 1/3 of global greenhouse gas emissions? With every meal you eat, you have the power to reduce climate change. Check out the Sierra Club’s Low Carbon Diet Calculator to compute the carbon impact of your food choices.
The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC):In the space of a generation, we’ve become accustomed to eating food that’s never grown roots in local soil. In fact, most produce grown in the United States travels an average of 1,500 miles before it gets sold. Use NRDC’s interactive tool to find out What’s Fresh Near You.
Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch: June 8th was World Oceans Day, and there’s commotion in the ocean. If we don’t start eating seafood in a sustainable way, the oceans may be out of fish by 2048. Three strikes and you’re trout. Fin-d out what Umbra has to say about what’s on your plate and in the ocean. You’ll want to follow these guidelines hook, line, and sinker.
