Fresh off of their hugely successful performance opening for Diana Krall at the renowned Britt Music Festival, New West returns to play Tiburon’s favorite music venue. With their unusual instrumentation of three guitars, the group has been recognized as a new presence in the global music scene.
New West was formed when group members met at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music. As an ensemble, Perry Smith (a Tiburon native), John Storie, and Brady Cohan have performed in Japan, Canada, Europe and throughout the U.S. Individually, the members of New West have gained recognition from the ASCAP foundation, Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition, and the Grammy Foundation. In mid-2009, NewWest collaborated with Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Gretchen Parlato and world-class luthier Jeff Traugott to produce their third album, “Sleeping Lady.” Hear samples of their music at: http://www.newwestguitar.com/live/
