Friday, February 12
- Bring the kids (ages 2–4) to Fantastic Fridays: Marsh Madness, this Friday from 10 to 11:30 am at the Crissy Field Center. Do the crab walk over to the marsh to look for some of the most popular residents in Crissy Field: Striped Shore Crabs. Learn how to tell a male crab from a female and how they fit into the Crissy Field food web. This fun filled program will help you and your toddler get to know the beautiful Crissy Field Marsh. - Come and make some heart-themed art at the Habitot Children’s Museum in Berkeley starting at 9:30 am. Create heart-themed art for loved ones with tissues, laces, ribbons, glitter and paper through Valentine’s Day. Share valentine-making supplies from home and receive a free adult admission pass with love from Habitot. Regular admission (children $8, adults $7). Saturday, February 13
- Learn about the Chinese zodiac and help welcome the Lunar Year of the Tiger at Crissy Field Center with fun games and activities for the whole family, 10 am–2 pm on Saturday. Enjoy some traditional Chinese snacks and learn how to shine coins for your lai see (lucky red envelopes). Celebrate in song and dance and listen to stories about the origins of Chinese New Year. Then, make some ornamental firecrackers and lanterns to take home. Space is limited to 15 participants and the program is designed for the whole family ages 5 and up. - Learn about trees at A Tree is Nice at the Richardson Bay Audubon Center on Saturday from 10 am–noon. Come for an exploration and learn about the native trees. You will learn tree parts, how trees grow, explore different textures and shapes of bark, leaves and branches, and delve into how different trees help create different kinds of habitats. Appropriate for children ages 5–8. Children ages 4 and under may participate, but must be accompanied by an adult. Advance Registration Required: 388-2524. - Experience Panto! at the Little Theater in San Anselmo. This all-new Panto! delivers an original twist to some traditional fairy tale favorites. Performances at 11:30 am and 2:30 pm. The second major musical panto from Bay Area-based Stark Ravens Historical Players, this original show will help introduce Americans to traditional British pantomime. This year’s program will again feature a Punch and Judy puppet show prior to curtain time. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. The Little Theater is on the campus of Drake High School. - Design a Valentine’s Day pop-up card at Disney Discoveries!, Saturday from 1–3 pm at the Walt Disney Museum’s Learning Center. The Disney Discoveries! activities are free with paid admission to the Museum (members free). More information on their website.
