Tiburon CA – Tiburon Film Society Presents: Virtual JFK, July 6

Posted on 25 June 2010 by Robert James

Virtual JFK: Vietnam If Kennedy Had Lived

The Tiburon Film Society will present the following film at the Bay Model located at 2100 Bridgeway in Sausalito on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 @ 6 PM.

Running Time: 80 minutes
Country: US
Genre: Documentary
Cast: John F. Kennedy, James G. Blight
Director: Koji Masutani

At the heart of VIRTUAL JFK is the critical question: Does it matter who is President of the United States when it comes to issues of war and peace? It explores this question by investigating one of the most debated “what if” scenarios in the history of U.S. foreign policy: What would President John F. Kennedy have done in Vietnam if he had not been assassinated in 1963, and had he been re-elected in 1964?

The film employs what Harvard historian Niall Ferguson calls “virtual history,” assessing the plausibility of counterfactuals – “what ifs” – and the outcomes they might have produced.

Review: Sophisticated tastes are what’s new at NewZ

GREENBRAE’S Bon Air Center always seems to be bustling with activity. Perhaps it’s the right mix of retailers, restaurants and chain stores that makes this ordinary mall work so well, but work it does, and ever since NewZ opened its doors as a wine bar-bistro in April, it got even better.
