Docent Rita Dunlay, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
Birth of Impressionism: Masterpieces from the Musée D’Orsay
Tuesday, June 8, 7:30 in the Founders Room
Fine Arts Museums Docent, Rita Dunlay will present “Birth of Impressionism: Masterpieces from the Musee d’Orsay in Paris” The exhibit at the de Young features masterworks by Monet, Manet, Renoir and more. Whistler’s Mother will be one of the exhibition highlights. Our Museum is the only one in the world to host both the May Exhibit and the upcoming Post Impressionist exhibit in September while the Paris Museum undergoes partial closure and refurbishment. French President Sarkozy says that when the paintings return to the d’Orsay, they will never again be lent out in their entirety. The exhibition presents the diversity of styles prevalent in Paris around 1874. The exhibit runs May 22 to September 6.

This is an advanced level course. Attendees should have taken MS Excel 2007 Class 2 or be able to use MS Excel 2007 menus, toolbars, and format cells. .Space is limited! Sir Arthur Sullivan, (of Gilbert and Sullivan) was the the speaker’s great great uncle and his only sibling, Frederic Sullivan, was his great grandfather. After Frederic’s early death at 39, leaving behind a wife and eight children, Arthur took over. Scott Hayes will tell all about his famous ancestor.
