Sicily Tasting
Saturday, July 24th 5-7pm

SicilySicily is Europe, Africa and Asia on one island. A world unto itself, it is a complex, dramatic land like no other. Greek tyrants, Arab emirs, Norman knights, Byzantine bishops and Holy Roman Emperors made it the place it is, with each group ruling for a time before being taken over by the next.

Sun shines for 6-8 months per year on fertile volcanic soils with varying microclimates and altitudes ranging from pristine beaches to frosted mountain tops. A wide range of wine varietals are grown here, each with their own unique characteristic and flavor profile. Many grapes never make it off the island and so Sicily lends a specific saturation of tipicity and individuality.

Join us Saturday the 24th from 5-7pm Light canapés will be served. $20 per person Please RSVP 889-8998

Zaccagnini Montepulciano d’Abruzzo
Discount Wine of the Month

ZaccagniniA mid-bodied wine with a smooth mouthfeel and notes of chocolate and coffee on the palate; almost tannin free, it has a little sweetness and goes down easy. A touch of wood on the palate relays silky tannins and a pleasant mouth feel for a very fresh and fruity finish. It’s not classy, sophisticated or multi dimensional. It doesn’t make your want to sit and contemplate, it’s simply a delicious wine at a delicious price. Dark, deep reddish purple with garnet hues-the wine smells like Tiramisu in a glass. Impressive. – 90 Points Wine Advocate

Zaccagnini Montepulciano d’Abruzzo “Il Tralcetto” 2007 – Great value for money: usually $252 a case, it is offered for $199, saving you $53.

You are not yet a successful entrepreneur

Posted by tibtv On July - 9 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Some guy blasted me during a panel discussion today that happens from time to time. I upset him by suggesting that “successful entrepreneurship” is ultimately about returning investor capital provided we raised capital. We can put a good team and product and business model together and we can make a good contribution to society but, if we haven’t performed for our investors, we’re still running something that could return less money than invested and therefore something “unsuccessful”.

Most Venture Capitalists lost money for five straight years (many for the last ten years) yet the media still confirms a private company is worth e.g. $60M because a VC just invested $20M when the reality is the company is likely worth $18M. The Internal Revenue Service language about Fair Market Value involves “willing buyers and sellers” but the VCs are not willing buyers -they’re forced to act or close their doors these days.

So, yes, guy who blasted me today, I know you have grown your company to be larger than anything I have created but you have not yet returned money to your investors. Comparing our revenue run rates to assess value is as meaningless as comparing the stock price of one publicly traded company versus another.

How much have we raised from investors? How much have we returned to investors? How long did it take?
