Hoops honeymoon: Sport helped bring former Drake coach and basketball enthusiast together

Pete and Mary Lou Hayward might qualify as candidates to be Mr. and Mrs. Basketball of Marin County. Pete, after all, coached the Drake High boys to a state championship in 1982 and left enough of a legacy at the school to have the Drake basketball court named in his honor.

Drake High grad Patrick Conroy was handed his first loss of the season as the College of Marin baseball team fell to Oakland’s Laney College 5-4, closing out the Bay Valley Conference tournament and the Mariners’ regular season in Kentfield on Thursday.

Prep boys tennis: Tam ends Redwood’s streak thanks to doubles sweep
